No, you do not need advance tickets. You pay the $10 adult entrance fee directly at the visitor center upon arrival.
The National Park Service charges $10 per adult (ages 16 and older). Children 15 and under enter for free.
The fort is mostly self-guided. You can explore the ruins at your own pace after viewing the orientation film.

Get there early if you want a seat on the Sunset Cruise tour. It is popular for good reason! The Captain and crew were wonderful and gave an amazing tour. Very entertaining. Relaxing yacht rock music playing, dolphins swimming along side the boat, incredible sunset painted sky and shoreline views of the city. Just beautiful! Highly recommend. Went with friends to celebrate a birthday.
